Davis Dominguez Gallery Website, Spring 2004

Candy Davis and Michael Dominguez- the galleries proprietors- have been pillars of the greater southwestern (US) contemporary modern art scene for over a quarter of a century. Having recently moved to the galleries fifth and final location- a one hundred year old wherehouse in the dowtown art district of Tucson, Arizona- they became the largest privately owned gallery in all of Arizona, and most of the west coast.

Competing with preeminent Los Angeles and New York Galleries, internet visibility became a primary interest of theirs. Carbon Based, together with Mamboyaya Design, was asked to complete an indepth competitor analysis, covering their peer galleries, their websites content delivery and the overall site structure. These findings were then turned into a style guide, content rubric and finally, a website. Since the go-live date later that year, the site has driven a ~10% per year increase in sales.

There are talks currently about redrafting a sleeker, all css / javascript version of the site, that can handle their ever increasing artist portfolio a bit better.
